The 6 Most Disappointing NFL Teams Of 2011

There were a few teams in the NFL that were disappointing to their fans in 2011.

The Super Bowl is right around the corner and if you are a Giants or Patriots fan then you have plenty of reason to cheer. However, there some fans around the league that have suffered through another disappointing season. Here are the most disappointing NFL teams of 2011.

Chicago Bears

The Bears did not have a bad season, but the ultimate result was disappointing for the fans. Chicago made it to the NFC Championship game in 2010 and had high hopes for a possible Super Bowl run in 2011. They started the season 7-3 and things were looking good until injuries derailed them. The Bears lost 5 in a row from late November through late December and ended up watching the playoffs from home.

Atlanta Falcons

When a team makes it to the playoffs, you consider that to be a successful season. Unfortunately, anything less than a Super bowl appearance is a big letdown for the Falcons organization. They gave away several draft picks for the chance to draft Julio Jones and the emphasis was on winning now. The Falcons failed to win their division and the first round loss to the Giants was a bitter blow. The Falcons need to win now because they have practically mortgaged away the future.

San Diego Chargers

When you are a Chargers fan, then it seems like you are accustomed to an underachieving team. The Chargers started out the 2011 season winning 4 of the first 5 games but lost 6 in a row in the middle of the season and ended up finishing 8-8. San Diego has too much talent to not win the mediocre NFC West.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the perfect example of a team that quit on its coach. The Buccaneers started out 4-2 and most experts predicted that they would grab a wildcard spot. They proceeded to lose the last 10 games of the season and gave up 40 or more points in 3 of the last 4 games. Fans are hoping a new coach will get things turned around in 2012.

New York Jets

The Jets went to the AFC Championship game in 2009 and 2010 and outspoken head coach Rex Ryan told the world that the 2011 season would be a Super Bowl year for the Jets. The team lost 3 games in row to finish the season and missed the playoffs completely. Internal turmoil threatens to tear the team apart and it will be interesting to see what happens in 2012.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia was definitely the most disappointing team of 2011. After making several high profile acquisitions in the off season, most experts predicted the Eagles to dominate the NFL and win the Super Bowl. The Eagles took themselves out of the playoff hunt early by losing 4 of the first 5 games. They did win the last 4 games of the season, but the stigma of a Super Bowl contender failing to make the playoffs is firmly attached to the Eagles for now.

I find it interesting and surprising that the Chargers kept Norv Turner. And I see Cutler got the offensive coordinator fired at Chicago. I still wonder about Cutler. As a Bronco fan, I saw a lot of him and his attitude.

i agree with your list here...

Wow! Chicago...this hits home, but it's true. Thanks much for posting...voted

Great article! Mike Martz needed to leave Chicago, his play calling was horrendous. And the Bears should have had a backup quarterback that could step in for Cutler.

So true, but I am a Giants fan and as they were headed to this list, they got their act together and took it all the way! Great job, voted!

I think with all the talent on the Dallas Cowboys team, their season was also very disappointing! Great article!

Yes Philly was really a let down. Great list of teams!
